How to add a texture to a photograph

Hi all , so finally I got the chance to post this : steps for the below photo processing

Above the before and after 

1. first the image is a RAW file so I fixed the level first.

2. Converting the image to Black & white

a. image> adjustment > Black and white : adjust the red , green , yellow & Magenta choose the values that fits ur requirement.

b. Fix the color balance

c. fix the brightness & contrast

d. add a gradient I added a white once & then a black next

3. I added a texture , u can choose any texture u like & I choose "Hard light" for the texture mode with opacity around 50% but often I choose Multiply with 20% opacity it works every time , 

then add a mask to the texture layer and take a soft black brush to remove the texture from the model.

4. I added a filter , image > adjustment > photo filter 

 5. If u like the vintage tone then choose : Filter > Lens correction

6. By the end I added sharpen to the photo go to : Filter > sharpen > unsharpen Mask & another way is Filter > blur > Gaussian blur

Hi all , I wanted to post something for a while i just got busy with the ending of the course but here it comes the holiday , Ive got several things on my agenda that must must be done b4 the holiday ends , besides that I've got to process many photos I photographed several occasions ppl been waiting 4 their photos I've started with that today hoping to be done by the weekend hopefully , besides working on my project and updating a school website . Many ppl asked me about textures and the way to be used n photographs so my next blog will be about textures inshallah , t.c xo and good night it 1.16 am already !!

how r u , its the beginning of the week and at the same time its the last week in this year 2011 =D yay can't wait till new year =D I just hope hat its a good one insha' alla ...

I got several things on my to do list 4 today; got a programming assignment to do .. & a research to finish I just hope I got the time to watch the help movie since the day I watched its trailer , I've been waiting 4 it and maybe I will upload a photo 2 Flickr as well trying to upload the photos I've got n my archive wanna start new year with new fresh captures =D

an interesting thing I've received today from my aunt ... I've got this awesome gift that u can see below a motherboard photo frame & a box that's really awesome "as a computer engineer student it's amazing " it made my day =D =D I'm loving it thank my lovely aunt thank u xoxo

In Muharraq : abdullah alzayed

months ago I went to the old houses area in Muharraq , I had a great time seeing all these beautiful houses , loved the architecture of the houses & I took some photos I've posted some on flickr & other I haven't posted yet ,


here are some of my photographs for my visit to  abdullah alzayed  house  for Bahraini Press Heritage 


I've edited all the photos as Black & white I liked them more with the B/W tone here some of my captures for abdullah alzayed house in Muharraq .

An old typewriter 

Hi all , that was a long day , i was attending a symposium 2day about robotics started @ 8 am and i've just left it was a so nice and useful loved what i saw , saw some projects as well it was interesting over all , its always nice 2 c ppl works n ur field and get the chance 2 learn from them, what was even more interesting 2 c school students who r interested n this field and actually did compete world wide and won masha'alla god bless them i'm so proud of them :D . Tomorrow thursday and I'm glad that its thursday i want my weekend ... Take care and enjoy the rest of ur day got some programming to do :D

How to change the background with photoshop

Hi all ,

here is my way or basically the one that I've learnt a while ago ,

1.       Open your original photo

2.       Add new layer above the original photo

3.       Fill the new layer with the new background color you want OR instead of adding a color you can add a texture

4.       Click on " ADD vector mask to the new layer you added "

5.       Reduce the opacity of the new layer to 60 or less so you can see your original photo

6.       Take a brush with black color plz note the masked layer is filled with white color so you need to choose the opposite color which is black for the brush and go over your photo make sure you are on the new layer ,

Brush on the areas you want them to be shown.

Once your are done get the opacity of the new layer back to normal ,

The empty places u can use white brush and redo them.

When I use texture or even without texture  I do the following:

1. I add both layers together & then I repeat the layer blur it with Gaussian blur = 9

2.       Once its blurred I add a mask to the blurred layer and I remove the blur from the portrait leaving the background blurred only

Then just go & edit the photo the way you want  add a texture to the background above the white do whatever u want.

I hope this post helps the ones who asked me =D & please note this shows changing the BG only I haven't added the editing part .. if u need something let me know I will try 2 help u

one of the great way of processing mainly its used widely with street photography ...

if u are interested check this tutorial its old but its great one & really its helpful here
